Necessary first step towards reforms

The Victorian peak body for community child and family services The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare says the release of yesterday’s budget and accompanying Directions Paper Victoria’s Vulnerable Children isa welcomed first step towards necessary reform.

Price Indexation

The Centre participated in the Community Sectors advocacy day at State Parliament on 18/4/2012 hosted by VCOSS.

Community sector representatives met with over 50 MP’s to highlight the need to provide price indexation based on the established formula - 85% of the governments wage indexation and 15% CPI.

The Fair Work Australia decision on Pay Equity is due to be implemented from 1/12/2012 and provides the following pay increases over eight years to workers paid under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award.
