We will be releasing the Centre's election statement in the next few days.

Our 4th Annual Sector Research & Evidence symposium will be held on Friday 31st October and promises to be another great day.

Royal Commission Forum - Monday 13 October

The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare together with the Commission of Children and Young People and the Department of Human Services are pleased to invite you to our third forum in a series focusing on the progress of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and the Government response to Betrayal of Trust, with a particular focus on child safe organisations.

The forum will be of interest to CEO’s, Board members, senior management and staff to develop and strengthen child safe policies in their organisation.

4th Annual Sector Research & evidence Symposium - Friday 31 October

The Child and Family Services sector is in an environment of change and reform. This symposium will explore the critical role research will play in evidence informed change processes that promote good outcomes for children, young people and families.

Workforce Survey

The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare are pleased to advise that they will undertake a Workforce Skills Gap Analysis.  The objectives of this survey are to :

  • Identify Skills gaps within organisations and staff in the following levels
  • Explore career pathways and training planning  for the sector
  • Investigate accredited training versus non accredited training
  • Embedding training
  • Training course requirements

Learning & Development

The Centre offers a range of accredited and non-accredited training to members and non-members.

A Systemic & Individual Approach to Promoting Reflective Practice (Wednesday 15 October)

This one-day interactive workshop aims to provide team leaders and managers with a foundational understanding of the principles and practice of promoting reflective practice at both a systemic and individual level.

African Dads & Kids Camp 2014

CatholicCare's African Dads and Kids program takes fathers away with one of their children for a weekend of fun, bonding activities and learning.

The men explore the differences between being a father in Africa and a father in Australia and discuss how to address the challenges they and their children face in adapting to a new culture and new roles.

Robin Clark Memorial Awards

The annual Robin Clark Memorial Awards were held on 9 September 2014 to celebrate excellence across the child and family service sector, child protection practice and academia.

The Centre congratulates all the winners and Highly Commended recipients.  In particular the Centre congratulates Micaela Cronin, Mackillop Family Services for her win in the Inspirational Leadership in the Field Award.

There were eleven awards presented across four categories. Videos on each award recipient are available on the Robin Clark Memorial Awards 2014 page.

 


 

 

Lifeworks

LifeWorks is a non-profit organisation that assists individuals, couples and families to experience positive, meaningful and respectful relationships through counselling, education, mediation and workplace services.

LifeWorks has recently developed an eLearning Equal Opportunity Training module for workplaces. The module is an effective way for organisations to manage risk, while building a stronger more inclusive and respectful workplace.

OzChild Kokoda Challenge

Lisa Sturzenegger, CEO at OzChild is embarking on the Kokoda Challenge 2014.  Lisa is raising money to ensure OzChild can continue to deliver programs such as therapeutic support, educational support and mentoring for Children & Youth at risk.

Trauma Informed Therapeutic Care Research

Deakin University researchers are currently conducting an on-line survey on "Trauma-Informed Therapeutic Care within the Australian Child Protection System: An Examination of Current Practice and options for future development."

The current survey asks for your views about the major needs of children and young people in out-of-home care?  They also want to know if you have had any experience or training in Trauma-informed Care, and Therapeutic Care approaches more generally; and, if so, your views on these approaches.

Family Drug Treatment Court Conference - 11-12 November 2014

The Children's Court of Victoria in partnership with The Berry Street Childhood Institute are delighted to be launching the inaugural Family Drug Treatment Court Conference to be held in November.

This conference will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the new Family Drug Treatment Court, its operations, applications and collaborative practice. It will explore the framework of intensive case management for parents with substance misuse and therapeutic interventions for families as well as give you advanced learning through Master Classes in legal and therapeutic intervention.
