Federal & State Budget 2015

Dear subscribers & friends,

This State Budget responded to many of the priorities that were identified in the Centre’s 2014 Election Statement and State Budget 2015-2016 Submission.

The result is an significant increase in funding to support the services being provided to Victoria’s vulnerable children, young people and families.

The Centre will keep all of our members updated on the implementation, governance and further analysis of the budget announcements.

ResiROCKS - 26 May 2015

Learning & Development

Skilled in Looking After Children (LAC) (Wednesday 10th & Thursday 11th June)

This two-day workshop aims to provide participants with an understanding of Looking After Children processes, and the role workers, volunteers and clients play.

Robin Clark Awards 2015

Nominations are now being accepted for the Robin Clark Protecting Children Awards.

The new and improved 2015 Award categories are open to individuals, teams or groups who work in the Department of Health & Human Services child protection program; other public sector organisations; Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) and community service organisations; education; and academia unless stated otherwise.

This year sees the introduction of the inaugural Robin Clark Leadership Award in memory of Robin Dennis Clark (1936–2001), a visionary and leader who has greatly influenced current policy and practice in Victorian child, youth and family services.

Patchwork - MAV

MAV is about to roll-out Patchwork to all Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Nurses across the state.

Patchwork is web application developed to connect practitioners from different agencies working with common clients in a geographic area.

You are invited to attend a presentation and discussion on the roll-out of Patchwork across Victoria including the NSW roll-out to be held on Wednesday 20 May from 10am.  Please register online by clicking here.

African Dads & Kids Camp

CatholicCare invites African Dads to bring along one of their children for a FREE fantastic camp experience at Marysville.  The camp to be held from 26-28 June 2015, acknowledges and celebrates the importance of fathers in a Childs life.

Children's Court - President

Magistrate Amanda Chambers has been announced as the President of the Children's Court and as a Judge of the County Court.

Magistrate Chambers will commence in the roles on 9th June 2015, upon the retirement of His Honour Judge Peter Couzens.

Transurban Community Grants

Transurban has opened a new round of its community grants program.  This program offers grants of up to $3,000 to eligible organisations near their roads that are creating social or environmental benefits for their local communities.
