Regional Consultation Workshops

Seven regional consultation workshops will be held across Victoria. The aim of the regional consultation workshops is to consult with people from the sector and aligned sectors who have deep local knowledge of how services are provided to vulnerable families and children.

Targeted consultations with key stakeholders

Advice will be sought from sector experts, including:

  • Commissioner for Children and Young People
  • Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People
  • Community sector leaders
  • Victorian Government representatives, including those working on the Education State, and Aboriginal Affairs Victoria.

Engagement through existing mechanisms

Engagement and alignment will be sought from existing consultative mechanisms, including:

  • ChildFirst and Integrated Family Services Alliances
  • Children and Youth Area Partnerships
  • Aboriginal Justice Action Group

Written Submissions

You are invited to share your views on how we can reshape the service system to provide better support to vulnerable children and families.

You may wish to consider the following questions when providing your views. 

  1. What changes are required to how the service system delivers the following:
  • Identification and assessment of vulnerable children and families
  • Assignment of services
  • Access of services
  • Case management and monitoring
  • Transition out of the system.
  1. What changes are required to how we work:
  • Workforce mix
  • Workforce incentive
  • Workload and expectations
  • Workforce collaboration
  • Workforce tools and enablers
  1. What changes are required in how the service system is structured, governed and funded considering:
  • How Service Providers (including the Department) work together
  • How Service Providers are funded, measured and incentivised

You are invited to share your views by providing written feedback to The closing date for feedback is 30 October 2015.

If you have experience with the child and family system, either as a child, young person or family member, you will have valuable insight on how support can be better provided, and DHHS strongly encourages you to contribute.

Roadmap for Reform November Symposium

A two day symposium will be held in November 2015 to consider and refine options for the Roadmap for Reform.  Representatives from child and family and aligned services will be invited to attend.
