RCLDS – Cultural Awareness: Introduction to working with Aboriginal children, young people and families (CBD) – RCLIAC20191111

This training is only available to Residential Care Workers in Victoria

The aim of this one day workshop is to provide participants working in the child and family welfare sector with introductory knowledge and understanding to assist them in working with Aboriginal children, youth, families and workers in a culturally respectful way.

Topics Covered

  • Aboriginal History – life before and after colonisation
  • Key effects of Stolen Generation and the continued effects – grief, loss, and trauma
  • The resilience and strength in Aboriginal Communities
  • Aboriginal Culture Overview
  • Aboriginal family roles and responsibilities
  • Understanding Culture can be Complicated
  • Working respectfully with Aboriginal children, youth, families and workers
