Investigation Analysis and Reporting in an OoHC Context-CIMS Related Training

Purpose: To train service provider staff in the analysing and assessment in an Out of Home Care context  within an investigative framework to determine evidence based outcomes. This training is aimed at; program managers, team leaders, and child protection workers.

This training is funded by DHHS to suppor the CIMS implementation.


  • Demonstrate the ability to identify different types of evidence
  • Demonstrate an understanding of assessing and analysing information
  • Demonstrate the ability to form an outcome decision of an investigation
  • Demonstrate the ability to write a clear investigation outcome statement

  • Burden of Proof
  • Rights and Responsibilities

Factors to consider in assessing and analysing information

  • Nature of the evidence
  • Analysis of information
  • The source
  • Relevance, reliability, consistency, time elapsed, corroboration, conflict of interests/bias
  • Pitfalls in assessing information
  • Investigator bias
  • Unclear allegations
  • Forming an evidence based outcome
  • Theoretical considerations ie trauma informed, nature of disclosures
  • Pitfalls in outcomes
  • Substantiating abuse
  • Documentation

Registration: To ensure your place, please register at least 15 days prior course commencement by completing the enrolment form link.

Cancellation policy (this training is funded but please let us know if you cannot make it so we can include someone in your place)

We will issue a full refund if we cancel the course or reschedule the course.

Participants who withdraw more than 15 days before course commencement will receive a full refund. If you cancel less than 14 days prior to the agreed start date, we will be unable to issue a refund.

Course and name transfers may be made if vacancies exist.

If there are extenuating circumstances for your cancellation, please apply in writing, attaching any relevant documentation, such as a medical certificate. Application for special consideration does not guarantee a refund.
