Practical skills to help young people and families get the best from the NDIS

Melbourne CBD:

This training is aimed at practitioners working with families and young people who participate in the NDIS.

The workshop will provide an overview of the NDIS, explain the NDIS intake and referral processes, and the decision-making logic behind NDIS support plans and funding. It will give a practical understanding of the key NDIS documents, the various forms of supporting evidence that can influence NDIS decisions, and their role in the development of NDIS Plans. The workshop will also explain the processes of appeals and reviews of NDIS decisions.

The session will explain support co-ordination and how this differs from case management.  Using examples of successful and unsuccessful applications, the session offers creative options and advice about how to best engage with the NDIS in the best interests of the child and family.

Learning objectives:

  • Develop an understanding of the NDIS eligibility and assessment process and key documents
  • Understand case coordination and how to maximise client options using practice examples
  • Identify and work with support services to maximise client functioning and independence
  • Build better transition between services and agency for clients
