Thursday October 12, 9:00 am - Friday October 13, 4:30 pm

Free

Tickets

Dates: 12th & 13th October and 22nd November 2017

This three day course provides participants with a solid introduction to the philosophy and practices of Positive Behaviour Support. Areas covered include:

  • the rationale, legislation and values underpinning PBS
  • exploration of staff values and experiences and the impact these have on their approach to behaviour management
  • the importance of background factors which shape an individual and the way they engage
  • development of staff skills to utilise various tools to understand these background factors
  • means of assessment – both formal and informal tools are examined and staff teams work collaboratively to practice using these tools and applying their skills
  • the range of interventions available within the PBS framework, including immediate response strategies
  • the challenge of implementing these consistently across a team

At the end of this course, participants will have developed a  more solid understanding of those they support and have a plan for implementing PBS practices into their environment. This course is best suited to those actively working in the field who are seeking to enhance and further their skills.
