Save the date for the annual OPEN Symposium! The annual OPEN (Outcomes Practice Evidence Network) Symposium will be held on Wednesday 10 October at the Arts Centre in Melbourne. This year’s theme is Connecting the Dots: Better Outcomes for Children and Families and will be a unique opportunity to engage with the best and most recent developments in evidence-informed practice across the sector. It is an opportunity to network, share and showcase your knowledge, and understand why and how you make a difference in the work that you do every day. Each year the Symposium features exciting keynotes and insightful presentations from across child and family services. Pull out a pen and pop it in your calendar, because this will be an important day for the sector. Present at the 2018 Symposium The Centre and OPEN are calling for abstracts for October’s Symposium. Come along and share your knowledge and experience with your sector colleagues; spark conversations, connect the dots, and help ensure the best outcomes. Submit your abstract here by July 27 2018. OPEN Forum on Invisible Practices Friday 20 July, 10:00am – 12:30pm Melbourne Multicultural Hub, Blue Room OPEN also invites you to attend an upcoming forum this July which will showcase the experiences of practitioners who participated in a research project to find out what support they need when working with fathers who use violence. Professor Cathy Humphreys and Lucy Healy (Melbourne University) will facilitate this forum with a panel of Victorian child and family service practitioners to unpack the findings from Invisible Practices: Intervention with fathers who use violence, an action research project that included training and supervision for Communities of Practice by US Safe and Together Institute (David Mandel). OPEN forums are a chance to learn, share and shape the network. You can read more and register to attend this free event here. We look forward to seeing you there!
