Future directions in permanent care and adoption

The Centre – together with the Foster Care Association of Victoria and Post Placement Support Service – recently hosted a consultation forum to discuss issues in adoption and permanent care.

The forum was undertaken to provide carers with an opportunity to share their experiences and frustrations with the DHS team managing the Future Directions in Permanent Care and Adoption project.

While always heartening to see the passion carers bring to these issues and share the fantastic work they are doing, the many stories of system failures has refocused all on the importance of this project.

We will continue to work to ensure that these experiences are addressed, and that Victoria’s permanent care system is better able to meet the needs of both children and carers.

Background information on the project is available here.
