Future Directions of IT & Data

The ‘Future Direction of IT & Data’ Network meeting was held on 18th September, with  45 CEOs and Business Managers on hand for the launch of the Centre’s report on “Usability of Case Management Systems & Data”, which will be made publically available in early October.

Grahame Coles, Chief Information Officer at DHS, then provided the Department’s view on the future directions of IT & Data, including planning for CRISP and IRIS.  DHS are currently investigating the use of Mobility and Cloud across a broader range of their services internally, and the impact of this on external stakeholders.  A robust conversation then followed with Grahame on ‘Data Sharing for Better Client Outcomes’.

The University of Melbourne – together with the Parenting Research Centre – presented on their current ‘Child Welfare Decision Support Project’.  The meeting was then rounded out with Graham Boal presenting details of the Client Information System project currently being undertaken by a number of agencies, including MacKillop Family Services, Berry Street and Anglicare.

Following on from themes raised in this workshop, the Centre will convene a working group to focus on the immediate and longer term issues impacting data provision and reporting to the Department if Human Services for child and family service providers.
