BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership & Management (February 2023 Intake)

The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare offers this Diploma of Leadership and Management, a nationally recognised qualification, to develop and hone the critical capabilities for effective leadership in the context of the child, youth, and families sector.

The course will equip participants with effective communication strategies and emotional intelligence to enhance team performance and culture. Participants will be armed with new knowledge to take initiative, show judgement in planning and problem-solving and improve operations. A Diploma of Leadership and Management graduate will have the critical skills to evaluate evidence from a variety of sources to make decisions and plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions.

Course Overview

The course consists of 12 units of competencies including 6 core units and 6 elective units.
Training will be carried out via learning face to face training at and Centre and/ or remote learning via Zoom delivery depending on COVID restrictions.
The participant’s workplace will provide the live environment in which to apply newly acquired knowledge and skills during the course of a normal workday.
The majority of assessments will be workplace based where skills and knowledge will be applied in the participants live work environment.
This course will be delivered over 12 full day training sessions plus assessment support session over a period of 12-18 months. Sessions will be delivered 6 weeks apart.

  • Development and use of emotional intelligence to increase self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management in the context of the workplace.
  • Lead and manage effective workplace relationships.
  • Develop and monitor implementation of the operational plan to provide efficient and effective workplace practices within the organisation’s productivity and profitability plans.
  • Lead teams in the workplace and to actively engage with the management of the organisation.
  • Undertake financial management within a work team in an organisation
  • Present and negotiate persuasively, lead and participate in meetings and make presentations to customers, clients and others.
  • Manage the performance of staff who are direct reports.
  • Lead and manage continuous improvement systems and processes.
  • Undertake a straightforward project or a section of a larger project
  • Manage Risk
  • Establish, maintain and evaluate the organisation’s work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area, according to WHS legislative requirements
  • Create systems and process to organise information and prioritise tasks.

Training Delivery dates

Training will be delivered on a Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Each session will be six weeks apart.

Mode of Delivery

This course will be delivered remotely via Zoom.

Cost

The course fee are as follows:

  • Members rate: $4,200.00
  • Non-members rate: $5,100.00

The course fee for and covers course resources, registration, assessment, participant support. Fees will be collected via a three-stage payment plan.
