Incorporated Associations reform

Reform legislation for Victoria’s Associations Incorporation Act has recently been passed by the State Parliament. The reform legislation includes changes to;

  • Codification of duties for office holders
  • Tiered reporting procedures
  • Merger of Public Officer / Secretary
  • Use of technology at committee and general meetings
  • Recording of minutes and member’s access.
The reforms are expected to take effect from 1/7/2012 with translation provisions allowing time for associations to make the required constitutional changes.
The Centre will be working with the Public Interest Law Clearing House (PILCH) to ensure members are aware of forums and information to assist them in implementing the reforms in their organisations.
More detail can be found at the PILCH website Incorporated Associations Reform and by subscribing to the PILCH e-bulletin here http://www.pilch.org.au/subscribe.
Updates on the reforms will be posted here and reported in the CEO Update and through the Corporate Services network.
